African Plant Nutrition Scholars Award (USD $2,000) 2021

Application is currently ongoing for the 2021 African Plant Nutrition Graduate Student Scholar Award Program.

The African Plant Nutrition Institute is a non-profit research and education organization with offices in Benguérir, Morocco, Settat, Morocco, Nairobi, Kenya, and Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire. The mission of APNI is to improve plant nutrition for a more resilient and food stable Africa. They collaborate with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and the OCP Group to Honour African students.

The African Plant Nutrition scholar award is a lifetime achievement award that honors outstanding graduate students working to advance crop nutrition science in Africa. However, candidates must be undergoing a graduate program as of the time of the application deadline.

Award: USD $2,000

Eligibility

Graduate students who meet the following criteria are eligible:

  • Currently enrolled in an African degree-granting college.
  • M.Sc. and M.Phil. students must be in their second year of study to be considered.
  • They should specialize in soil science, agronomy, horticultural science, or tree crop science, emphasizing plant nutrition.
  • Previous Award recipients are ineligible.

Application Process

In order to complete the application process for the African Plant Nutrition Scholar Award, applicant will need to submit the following document either in English or French:

  • An electronic copy of transcripts of all university work, including cumulative and final grade records (GPA or percentile).
  • An electronic copy of two letters of support, one from the major professor signed and written on official letterhead including the phone number and e-mail address of the writer.
  • A description of the focus of their thesis or dissertation research presented in a manner that will permit evaluation of its originality, depth, and scope, innovative approaches, and relevance.
  • A brief description of any additional information that may be relevant to the award (such as honors or awards they have received, etc).
