Career Track Assistant Professor HRM/OB with Focus on Leadership and Governance

Within the Department of Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior (HRM/OB; Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Groningen, The Netherlands), a full-time position is vacant for a career track Assistant Professor in HRM/OB, with a focus on the theme “Leadership and governance”.

FEB has recognized five societally relevant and strategic themes in research, education, and for creating impact. One of these themes is “Leadership and Governance,” which focuses on leadership processes and governance issues in organizations. Example topics include leadership and digitalization or the governance of diversity issues. The assistant professor is expected to contribute to teaching and research within this theme, and should focus especially on the relation between leadership/governance and digitalization.


They offer salary in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

  • a salary depending on qualifications and work experience, starting from a minimum of € 3,974 gross per month to a maximum of € 6,181 gross per month
  • a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income and an 8.3% end-of-the-year allowance,
  • as well as participation in a pension scheme for employees.

Job Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  • have a PhD degree in HRM/OB or a related discipline
  • have excellent teaching skills
  • be excellent researcher and author of publications in international top journals
  • have a University Teaching Qualification or are willing to obtain this qualification
  • have a relevant international academic network
  • be willing to contribute to and develop the theme “Leadership and Governance” within the faculty and contribute to multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary research and teaching in this area
  • have organizational qualities and excellent communication skills
  • have good interpersonal skills and the ability to successfully work both individually and in a team.
