The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology has an opening for a Communications and Outreach Officer at the University of Toronto.
As Communications and Outreach Officer, you will advise on and implement a robust communications strategy that showcases the broad range of academic, research, and advocacy work in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This strategy will include short- to medium-length news pieces, social media, departmental newsletters and other types of publications, as well as outreach to alumni audiences.
The successful incumbent in this role will independently and confidently take stewardship of all aspects of the communications portfolio, working collaboratively as part of our administrative team while also nurturing relationships with faculty members, allied healthcare providers, and the Temerty Medicine communications team.

Tasks
- Developing and implementing communication plans that support outreach goals and department objectives
- Conducting interviews with individuals for University publication
- Producing promotional and outreach materials
- Advising on strategies to maximize social media presence and growth and creating and maintaining presence on social media platforms
- Customizing and coordinating website updates according to objectives
- Delivering presentations outlining proposals to attract sponsorship opportunities
- Training staff and faculty on the application of social media and content management systems
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
Salary
$73,748 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $94,310
Job Requirements
Eligible applicants for this position should have:
- Bachelor’s degree or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum four years of relevant communications experience in a university, teaching hospital, or comparable environment
- Experience developing and implementing communications strategies and plans
- Experience making recommendations for improvements based on insights, best practices, and objectives
- Demonstrated experience coordinating digital and print communications projects consistent with employer branding
- Experience creating and deploying digital materials (newsletters, social media and web content), and effectively utilizing digital metrics
- Must be creative, resourceful and solutions-oriented
- Experience developing and maintaining brand presence across all communications channels
- Skilled in working with content management systems, web analytics and e-newsletter Experience delivering presentations and training end users
- Experience building and maintaining strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Creative Suite
- software
- Superb written and oral communication skills
- Excellent research, writing, editing, and print design/layout skills are essential
