Falling Walls nominations are currently ongoing for the 2020 Breakthroughs Of The Year.
Nominations are invited from leading academics and world-class academic institutions from around the world – universities, research organisations, companies, private and public research centre’s, academics, research funders, foundations and individuals across ten categories.
The nomination will be held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, Series of meetings and conferences with a limited number of speakers and topics will be shifted to a global showcase that gathers, celebrates and discusses a much broader set of the most recent breakthroughs in science and society.
Helga Nowotny former President of the European Research Council along with Falling walls long-term partners “Springer Nature” and the “Zeit Verlagsgruppe” will serve as overall chair of the juries.

(8) Emerging Talents (Falling Walls Lab),

(10) Science Engagement (Falling Walls Engage).
At the end of the virtual event, Falling Walls will announce the finalists and display their videos and make their outstanding work recognised, to foster a scholarly and public debate about the contribution of science to society – via social media, newsletters and on Falling Walls growing library at falling-walls.com, as well as on the platforms of their partners.
Falling Walls are looking for internationally recognised, established academics and leaders in their respective fields (as outlined above), whose groundbreaking work contributes towards solving the world’s biggest challenges. As excellent communicators, they are able to transmit their passion and the significance of their findings for society.
