From Linear to Circular: Africa Workshop programme 2022

Applications are now open for the face-to-face workshop From Linear to Circular: Africa workshop programme for circular economy practitioners and catalysts on the African continent.

From Linear to Circular: Africa is created with the support of the African Leadership University and funded by the MAVA Foundation.

The programme is aimed at postgraduate students and professionals at the start of their circular economy career, who already have a solid understanding of the circular economy. It is a fantastic opportunity for those that want to become circular economy practitioners and catalysts on the African continent.

Participants will come together for four days to explore the concepts, principles, and practical applications of the circular economy through:

  • An in-depth exploration of the concept of the circular economy
  • Expert-run sessions on the practical application of the circular economy
  • Site visits
  • Networking with circular economy experts and practitioners

Duration: 04 Days

Benefits

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation is able to offer a small number of bursaries. The bursary will cover solely (part of) travel to and from Kigali, and help with visa costs or costs related to travelling in times of COVID 19.

Eligibility

The From Linear to Circular: Africa programme is open to applicants who:

  • show a strong understanding of the circular economy
  • can prove the circular economy plays a substantial part in their employment or studies
  • aim to be instrumental in the transition to a circular economy on the African continent
  • are in their final undergraduate year or are postgraduates
  • are professionals at the start of their circular economy career
  • live and work on the African continent
  • are able to participate in the programme from 11th-15th October 2022 in Kigali, Rwanda

Selection

Applications will further be evaluated by the following competencies:

  • Thinking and content
  • Application of knowledge to your work
  • Contextualisation and completeness
  • Presentation style and technical proficiency
  • Ability to be truly pioneering in accelerating the transition to a circular economy
  • Team composition and motivation of the team members (they highly encourage gender balance in the team)
