Google Workspace Engineer at the University of Groningen

The Centre for Information Technology (CIT) at the University of Groningen is looking for an enthusiastic Google Workspace Engineer.

In this role, the candidate is responsible for designing, building, and renewing our email infrastructure, including managing email software such as Sendmail and Postfix. He/she will support technical colleagues with mail configuration and analyze email and server logs for security and support purposes. In addition, he/she will prepare improvement proposals and work them out following CIT standards, with a strong focus on privacy by design and privacy & security.

Also, as the Google Workspace engineer, the candidate will work closely with other teams within the CIT, such as DNS management, Identity & Access Management, and Organisation Systems, to manage and optimize technical dependencies.

Duration: 2 years

Tasks

  • Designing and building email infrastructure and renewing the collaboration environment.
  • Supporting technical colleagues with mail configuration and analyzing email and server logs for security and support purposes.
  • Preparing and developing improvement proposals in accordance with CIT standards (ITIL-based change management).
  • Answering second-line questions through various channels.
  • Working on complex problems.
  • Participate in a roster for on-call services.
  • Representing the team in consultations and organization-wide projects.
  • Contribute to the further development and improvement of services within the team.
  • Maintain and document technical knowledge to support other team members.

Salary

  • Depending on education and experience, a salary of at least €3,345 to a maximum of €5,278 gross per month for a full working week (38 hours).
  • 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus on the annual gross income.

Job Requirements

For the Google Workspace Engineer position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Experience in managing a collaboration platform, preferably Google Workspace or Office365.
  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience with email software such as Sendmail or Postfix and related infrastructure.
  • Experience with bash/shell scripting within a Linux environment.
  • HBO working and thinking level.
  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.
  • Experience with agile working, scrum, and lean is a plus.
  • A Certificate of Good Conduct is required for this position.
