Application is open to applicants from AfDB member countries with relevant professional experience to the Japan Africa Dream Scholarship (JADS) Program.
The Japan Africa Dream Scholarship (JADS) Program is a capacity-building project by the AfDB and Japan with the aim of providing two-year scholarship awards to highly achieving African graduate students to enable them to undergo post-graduate studies (a two-year Master’s degree program) in selected priority development areas on the continent and Japan.
Under the AfDB’s High 5s agenda (i.e.”Feed Africa,” “Light up Africa,” “Industrialize Africa,” “Integrate Africa,” and “Improve the quality of life of African people”) and main Japanese development assistance initiatives, the overarching aim the AfDB and the Government of Japan strive to achieve is to enhance skills and human capital development in Africa. Power, agriculture, health, environmental protection, and engineering are among JADS’ core study areas. Inter-university cooperation and university-industry collaborations between Japan and Africa are also goals of the program.

Eligibility
- Be a national of an AfDB member country;
- Hold a Bachelor (or equivalent) degree in the energy area (or related field);
- Be in good health;
- Have 1 years or more of recent development-related experience after earning a Bachelor (or equivalent) degree;
- Be accepted unconditionally to enroll in the upcoming academic year in at least one of the JADS partner universities for a Master’s degree.

- proof of employment for each record of employment since earning a Bachelor’s degree,
- Certified copy of the certificate of most advanced university degree earned.
- Two professional references.
- Research plan and proposal, and
- Identify two professional references.
