The Research IT department at Utrecht University is looking for a software developer or DevOps engineer for the further development of the Research Data Management application.
This application enables researchers to securely deposit, share, publish, and preserve large amounts of research data during a research project. For this position, they are looking for a colleague with a talent for solving technical problems who has excellent communication and collaboration skills, a flexible approach and working method, and proven organizational and time management skills.
Tasks
As a Software Developer or DevOps Engineer, the key task for this position are:
- contributing to one or more specific development projects;
- participating in a team of open-source software developers;
- supporting the technical and functional application managers;
- creating and maintaining documentation;
- being open-source-minded.
Duration: an employment contract for 12 months with the prospect of a permanent employment contract.
Salary
The department offers:
- a laptop and a mobile phone from Utrecht University;
- a gross monthly salary between €3,226 and €5,929 in the case of full-time employment;
- 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus;
- a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave and flexible terms of employment based on the CAO NU;
- and other fringe benefits.
Job Requirements
The position of Open-Source Software Developer or DevOps Engineer seeks candidates with:
- an MSc, PhD or professional bachelor’s degree;
- experience within the research domain at a university;
- experience with software development in an agile (SCRUM) setting;
- proven expertise of Linux, in particular CentOS/RHEL or Debian/Ubuntu and shell scripting and version control (Git);
- experience with automated software deployments (CI/CD);
- proficiency in Python and SQL;
- preferably experience with Ansible, Apache, iRODS, PostgreSQL, and Pytest;
- good English language skills.
