Postdoc on Generation of Orbital Angular Momentum using AI for Quantum OCT

The Department of  Imaging Physics, Delft University of Technology calls for applications for Postdoc positions on the Generation of Orbital Angular Momentum using AI for Quantum OCT in the Netherlands.

Its objective is to demonstrate the highest resolution OCT system ever built, protected from environmental noise through AI-based control of OAM in a real-world application: retinal imaging.

Quantum Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a cutting-edge imaging technique that has revolutionized various fields, including medical diagnostics, materials science, and quantum information processing. In recent times, researchers have been exploring ways to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to advance Quantum OCT and push the boundaries of its capabilities further. One such ground-breaking endeavor is the Postdoctoral research focused on generating Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) using AI for Quantum OCT.

Tasks

The successful candidate will:

  • create light beams of given OAM using SLMs.
  • built an experimental set-up based on interferometry
  • apply phase retrieval methods to evaluate the quality of the beams
  • measure the beam after interaction with the sample.
  • implement an AI algorithm to generate correction phase masks and obtain settings of the SLM that give optimum quality OAM beams.

Duration: The position has a fixed-term contract of 3 years.

Salary

The position offer:

  • The TU Delft offers a customizable compensation package,
  • A discount on health insurance and sport memberships, and
  • A monthly work costs contribution. Flexible work schedules can be arranged.
  • For international applicants they offer the Coming to Delft Service and Partner Career Advice to assist them with their relocation.
  • An International Children’s Center offers childcare and there is an international primary school.
