The faculty of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences, Eindhoven University of Technology invites applications for Postdoctoral fellows on Smart Data-Driven Predictive Maintenance for Resilience of Interconnected Infrastructure Systems Field: Maintenance, Infrastructures, Optimisation.
The Eindhoven University of Technology is a smart data-driven optimization framework that combines learning and updating methods with decision models to support predictive maintenance planning for interconnected infrastructures under uncertain operating conditions. Extrapolating knowledge from alarms, sensors, process logs data, and maintenance data through AI techniques will improve the learning of the system’s current and future behavior. A result is a dynamic approach to maintenance planning based on an accurate assessment of the current system state and reliable predictions of the future conditions. Due to the dependencies within the system, decisions shall leverage systems engineering approaches to effectively represent the system’s architecture and the interactions across its elements and processes.
A challenge is to deliver robust here-and-now maintenance decisions, and accurate second stage wait-and-see decisions based on the “realization of reliable predictions”. The first group of decisions includes for instance (i) allocation of “budget” for renewal and maintenance activities to different assets, (ii) long-term/high-level maintenance policies (e.g. determining relevant thresholds on assets conditions triggering maintenance, or the frequency of scheduled maintenance visits) and the planning of maintenance resources (e.g. personnel and equipment).
