Tasks
The successful candidate:
- Perform biomaterial synthesis, cell culture experiments, and characterization of cells and biomaterials
- Analyze and evaluate research data and provide interpretations requiring significant knowledge of a specialized area of research
- Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and assist in grant proposals
- Disseminate research at national and international conferences
- Work with other members of the research team, including undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and research collaborators
- Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work
Duration: 12 Months
Job Requirements
Applicants for the Postdoctoral Scholar in Biomedical Engineering should meet the following criteria:
- Ph.D. in biomedical / materials engineering, or in a closely related field. Degree must have been earned within the last six years.
- A strong record of publication(s) in mainstream peer-reviewed journals in the area of biomaterials and tissue engineering
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
Additionally, have experience in:
- organic synthesis and developing new hydrogel materials
- 3D cell encapsulation in hydrogels
- the characterization of cell-matrix interactions
- in-vivo transplantation of biomaterials
- fabrication and characterization of biomaterials
