Meat Technology Ireland (MTI) is a unique project, co-funded by Enterprise Ireland, industry and hosted by Teagasc, in collaboration with UCC, ICBF, TUS, MTU, DCU, and IMR. The activity crosses the interface between academic endeavor and commercial exploitation. The role will require an exceptional individual with proven project management, advanced scientific training, excellent communication skills but also relevant industry experience. They will play a critical role in servicing the needs of the industry and liaising with research project leaders. A significant portion of their time will be spent on-site in MTI industry member plants and in the partner RPOs institutions. They will work directly with the Researchers and Principal Investigators to ensure research outputs from the Centre are seamlessly transferred and embedded in the MTI member companies. The candidate will be required to contribute to identifying opportunities and formulating solutions to facilitate progress for the participant companies and researchers involved

Tasks

The tasks for this position include:

  • Acting as the daily point of contact for industry and RPO MTI participants offering support and monitoring the timely and effective delivery of research projects, according to the terms of the contract.
  • Supporting the researchers and the Director in the preparation of technical and operational SOPs associated with project deliver and management of the centre.
  • Effective capture of programme intellectual property to facilitate license transfers, patent filings and commercialisation commitments from industrial partners.
  • Effective capture and reporting of programme in-kind contributions from industrial partners.
  • Assisting the Centre Director with the timely delivery of technical and financial reports to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
  • Assist in the timely co-ordination of meetings with potential end-users.
  • Effective management of infrastructure to deliver the terms of the research contracts.
  • Operation within Teagasc Health & Safety Policy.

Location: Food Research Centre, Teagasc, Ashtown, Dublin 15, D15 KN3K.

Salary

The position offers a maximum of €66,089 and a minimum of €92,511.

Job Requirements

  • Candidates must have a QQI Honours Level 8 degree in food science, chemical, life sciences or a related discipline.
  • Research skills: literature reviewing, experimental design, data management, statistical analysis and experiment implementation.
  • Strategic awareness, innovation & change management skills and an ability to present vision and foresight.
  • Computer literate, with proficiency in the use of MS Office, Word, excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
  • Good understanding and experience of the research process, engaging with researchers and supporting research activities.
  • Proven project management and delivery experience e.g. through participation in multi-partner research projects such as FIRM, Horizon 2020 or industry-related projects.
  • Knowledge of the food industry.
  • The National Intellectual Property Protocol.
  • Strives for high quality of work and demonstrates commitment to the programme.
  • Flexible approach to work with an ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to enable knowledge and technology transfer.
  • Demonstration of innovation within previous research/roles.
