Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology is looking for a motivated research technician with experience and interest in antibody and protein biochemistry to join the Janda group.
The Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology is a research hospital concentrating on healthcare, research, and education on pediatric cancer in a single location in Utrecht. The institute aims to provide the highest level of care for all children with cancer and has the ambition to cure all children of cancer and improve their quality of life. The center brings together the best possible care and scientific research, creating a unique interdisciplinary institute for pediatric oncology in Europe.
Tasks
The Janda group pursues various projects to leverage proteins and antibodies for innovative approaches to diagnose and treat childhood cancer.
This includes, but is not limited to,
- the generation of antibodies and antibody fragments against newly identified cancer-associated antigens for immunotherapy (including CAR T cell therapy) and non-invasive immunoPET imaging.
- isolating and preparing antibodies and proteins for diverse applications and testing their functionality using in vitro cell assays.
- Furthermore, manage multiple projects and work in a multi-disciplinary team of cell biologists, pediatric oncologists, and pediatric surgeons.
Duration: 1 year
Salary
A gross monthly salary will be based on experience and background and will include an 8,33% holiday allowance and an 8,33 % end-of-year bonus.
Job Requirements
- A BSc or MSc degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related disciplines.
- Prior experience in recombinant protein expression in mammalian and bacterial cells, protein purification using the AKTA-FPLC system (affinity, ion exchange, and size exclusion chromatography) and protein characterization is critical.
- Experience in cell culture is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in cloning and plasma preparation is desirable.
- Strong motivation, attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to work in a team is critical.
- Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills are required.
