Robotics Laboratory Education Technician at the University of Groningen

Applications are currently ongoing for the Robotics Laboratory Education Technician position at the University of Groningen.

As a robotics laboratory education technician, the candidate will have the opportunity to work in an inspiring university teaching and research environment. He/she will closely collaborate with lecturers and researchers from the robotics labs of the Department of Artificial Intelligence, where he/she will provide support to, in particular, associate/full professors teaching Bachelor’s and Master’s students. Furthermore, the candidate will be responsible for installing and maintaining the facilities in the robotics labs: commercial and self-developed robotics platforms, computers, and software.

Tasks

The key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Support teachers in their robotics courses
  • Assist with the supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s students doing research in the laboratory
  • Set up simulations, develop software codes, and build robotics and software
  • Support teachers in developing and maintaining new practical courses.

Salary

  • a salary based on qualifications and experience of between €3,072 and € 4,103 gross per month based on a full-time position
  • 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus based over the annual gross income

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate for the Robotics Laboratory Education Technician has

  • a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (university of applied sciences or university) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field
  • experience or affinity with Python and ROS
  • experience or affinity with embedded software development in C/C++ and Linux
  • practical, demonstrable skills in using robotics platforms (hardware and software)
  • experience with 3D printing for manufacturing (e.g. Solidworks)
  • affinity with teaching and technical support, preferably in an educational setting
  • a B2 level of English proficiency.
