The St. Gallen Global Essay Competition is a global student essay competition, offering students who study at graduate or postgraduate level around the world the opportunity to apply for participation at the St. Gallen Symposium.
Nevertheless, the essay is must be a professional, creative and thought-provoking essay. Be bold, unconventional, and distinctive on the competition question. It must be anonymous, name, e-mail address, university, or any identifying details must not be mentioned anywhere in the contribution file. St. Gallen Symposium 2022 Essay competition gives participants the opportunity to be one of the top 100 contributors to qualify for an all-expenses-paid trip to the world’s premier opportunity for cross-generational debates as a Leader of Tomorrow.
Individual work is a must in the competition, no group work. However, the essay must be written exclusively for this contest. The idea must be the author’s own. All sources must be cited and referred to the respective part of the essay.

Eligibility
The following are requirements for the St. Gallen Symposium essay competition 2022
- Enrolled in a graduate or postgraduate programme (master level or higher) in any field of study at a regular university
- Born in 1992 or later
- Most of the symposium sites are wheelchair-accessible and as such applications are welcome from disabled persons.
Application Process
To be eligible for the St. Gallen Symposium 2022 Essay Competition, applicants must submit:
- Copy of passport or other identification (in English for non-Roman languages)
- Confirmation of matriculation/enrolment from their university which proves their enrollment in a graduate/postgraduate level programme as of 1 February 2022
- a short abstract (200–300 words)
- Their contribution file with no indication of their name in the file name, the file metadata or the file itself
