Applications are currently ongoing for the Australia Awards Africa Scholarship program for postgraduate students for the 2023/2024 Academic Year.
The Australia Awards Africa Scholarship program combines Master, Fellowships, and Short Course opportunities to build skills and capabilities in key sectors, thereby contributing to social and economic development outcomes for African nations and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Australia Awards alumni represent an engaged and influential global network of leaders, advocates, and change-makers. The growing number of Australia Awards Africa alumni who have gained qualifications from Australian education institutions occupy influential positions in government, regional organizations, civil society, and the private sector.
The Australia Awards in Africa Women in Leadership Network provides professional development opportunities to women alumni from many African countries.
Benefits
The Australia Awards Africa Scholarship recipients will receive:

- a one-off establishment allowance on arrival

- overseas student health cover for the duration of the scholarship

- fieldwork allowance for research students and masters by coursework which has a compulsory fieldwork component
Eligibility
To be eligible to receive an Australia Africa Scholarship program award, applicants must:
- be a minimum of 18 years of age on 1 February of the year of commencing the scholarship;
- be a citizen of a participating country (as listed on the Australia Awards website) and be residing in and applying for the scholarship from their country of citizenship;
- not be a citizen of Australia, hold permanent residency in Australia, or be applying for a visa to live in Australia permanently;
- be able to satisfy the admission requirements of the institution at which the award is to be undertaken
- be able to satisfy all requirements of the Department of Home Affairs to hold a Student Visa.
Application Process
Applicants for The Australia Awards Africa Scholarship program must supply documents to support their scholarship application including, but not limited to a:
- certified copy of original formal degree graduation certificate (i.e. testamur) and, if not in English, a certified translation of the degree;
- referee reports: at least one academic referee report and at least one other referee report (e.g. a work supervisor)
- certified copy of the original formal academic transcript/s and, if not in English, a certified translation copy of the transcript/s;
- curriculum vitae (CV) briefly detailing work history and responsibilities (and research experience, if relevant to the application);
- certified copy of a citizenship document (e.g. passport or national identity card);
- certified copy of original birth certificate and, if not in English, a certified translation.
