TÜBİTAK-TWAS Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Fellowship Programmes

TÜBİTAK-TWAS extends applications for the Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Fellowship Programmes for foreign scholars from developing countries.

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) and TWAS have established a sandwich Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Fellowship programmes for foreign scholars from developing countries in the South who wish to pursue part of their research towards a PhD in a field of the natural and related applied sciences in the departments and laboratories of public and private universities in Türkiye (Turkey) and TÜBİTAK Research Centers and Institutes.

The purpose of the Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Fellowship progrmmes, which were prepared in cooperation with BİDEB-TÜBITAK and TWAS-UNESCO, is to advance the international cooperation of Türkiye in science and technology by providing financial support to international researchers from developing countries who have received their PhD or are still registered for a doctoral programme abroad in the natural and related applied sciences.

Eligibility

Applicants for the postgraduate and postdoctoral fellowship must meet the following criteria:

  • Be permanent residents and nationals of a developing country in the South.
  • Candidates from Science and Technology Lagging Countries (STLC) and women are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in Turkey or any developed country;
  • Applicants already onsite in the host country (Turkey) are not eligible to apply for this fellowship.
  • Hold a master’s or equivalent degree in natural and related applied sciences (in one of the  fields specified above);
  • Be a maximum age of 35 years on December 31 of the application year.

Application Process

  • Selected candidates will be sent an official award letter jointly signed by TÜBİTAK and TWAS-UNESCO.
  • A letter of commitment is signed by the researcher and the academic advisor(s) at the university where the research will be carried out.
  • If the research requires it, the approval certificate obtained from the Ethics Committee of the university in which the research will be conducted or from any relevant Ethics Committee should be submitted to BİDEB.
