The Delft Technology unique fellowship offers high-profile positions to outstanding female academic researchers in research themes in which the faculties of the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) want to be strengthened.

As a fellow, the candidate will be offered a unique chance to establish his/her research programme of international repute, including a generous start-up grant. The fellowships are awarded at the Full, Associate, or Assistant professor level.

Job Requirements

The candidates for the Unique Fellowship for Top Female Academic Scientists:

  • Are highly talented and motivated female academic scientists, holding a PhD in a relevant discipline, with the necessary experience to contribute and excel at being a full professor, or the ambition to grow into the role.
  • Have a proven drive for scientific excellence demonstrated by, for example, publications in first-rate international scientific journals, the ability to compete for external research funding, and an extensive international network.
  • Have post-doctoral working experience in industry or academia.
  • Are an academic leader who guides and motivates her group or has the clear potential to develop into one.
  • Have high-level communication and social skills, a coaching leadership style, and experience supervising research projects.
  • Are self-critical and able to align personal ambition with being a member of a team of first-rate colleagues.
  • Are a compelling teacher and will be able to participate in and contribute to the development of the department’s teaching programme.

  • Cover letter, including:
    • their motivation
    • the faculty and research themes of their interest
    • the position desired (Full, Associate or Assistant Professor level)
    • How many years of post-doctoral working experience in industry or academia do they have?
  • resume, including a detailed list of publications and achievements.
  • Contact information consists of 4 references (6 in the case of a full professor).
  • A vision document (maximum of 2000 words) containing their research proposal and their vision for 1) education, 2) leadership, and 3) the embedding of their research into the Delft University of Technology organisation.
